Alrighty, so my laptop actually had a problem with its motherboard and had to be replaced the repairs took 3 weeks so I didn’t really get to work on the NBA preloaders like I originally planned too. However, I saved up enough money from work to buy myself a decent DSLR to finally practice some photography. I recently got my license and decided to celebrate by buying a piece of tiramisu from a beautiful (not to mention extremely pricey) and high end grocery store called Mcewan’s; since I just bought the camera I decided to start practicing my photography.
So before I did anything with my camera I set up my subject. I placed the tiramisu on a glass plate on my coffee table and decided to put the fancy bag it came in behind it to make the photo more interesting. I actually tried many different set ups of just the cake, the plate it sat on and the bag until I decided on the one to use haha (it was also really hard not to just give up and eat the cake). Anyways I ended up taking around 20 pictures.
Because I shot my pictures in RAW, I couldn’t open up my shots in photoshop; luckily, I found this thing called an Adobe DNG converter which allowed me to covert my RAW files to DNG files so I could play around with them a little more. The converter is free so if you cant find it leave me a message in the comments and I’ll put up a link for you.
As soon as I got my image into photoshop I began to play with it. I first cropped it so there wasn;t so much boring space in the background (i.e. part of my tv and carpet haha). Then I used adjustment layers to play with my scenes exposure and levels. I also used Photoshop’s “pen tool” to add a mask to the tiramisu itself so I could increase it’s saturation. In the end I didn’t do a lot of work, I just wanted to play with my picture a little more to make it look better. So, does it look better? Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading!
Since I took so many pictures I am going to be updating this post with the other photos I have been messing around with.
