Hey, I haven’t posted in a long while but since I’m finished classes I’m going to try and build up my portfolio and post a bit more to the blog.
So, for one of my portfolio pieces I am going to track a 3D model to my body in this case, a watch.
To start off I looked through google to find a Rolex that I liked. This is the one I chose.
Originally I picked one of my own watches and tried putting it together by drawing out all the parts then “eyeballing” it in Max. It didn’t work out very well.
In order to make a more realistic model I looked up some tutorials on modeling specific shapes; they really helped me make my model look a lot more realistic.
To start building the model I started off in the top viewport. I made a plane and applied the bitmap of the watch above as a texture to it.
Then I started drawing the watch piece by piece with the picture as my reference.
Below are some final renders of the watch.
If the watch looks different in some of the screen shots it’s because it hasn’t been properly lighted yet.
